The facility
The Lista project is located near Lista Airport, and will be operated by Lista Laks AS, which is a subsidiary of EFC. The project is our first on a commercial scale, demonstrating our circular process, with land-based farming, carbon sequestration and protein production. This takes place in collaboration with our sister company G2F. Sludge will be used for biogas production in collaboration with Vireo.
The breeding facility will consist of 26 independent m-RAS modules, with associated smolt production and slaughterhouse. The plant has permissions for 6,000 tonnes of salmon production per year.
The area is an existing industrial area, with good infrastructure available, and areas that support further expansion.
Progress
The expansion of salmon production will be possible in stages and modularly, based on EFC's M-RAS system. The expansion of the number of standard modules on Lista is only limited by permits, and the site offers opportunities for larger expansions in the long term. The modular concept makes EFC technology considerably more flexible than any other land-based farming system.
