The facility
Hausvik is a research and development facility, where we optimize our technology for land-based salmon farming. The facility is operated in collaboration with Ocean Farm Holding AS, which runs a successful wrasse farm.
The facility consists of a 150 m3 breeding tank based on EFC's M-RAS technology, as well as two smaller tanks for specific technology trials.
Further development of a full-scale tank with 120 tonnes/year is expected to be completed in Q3 2024.
The purpose of the facility is test production to collect data, develop control and monitoring systems and verify the processes for extraction of CO2.
Production
The first production cycle was a great success:
- 10 tonnes of salmon produced
- 1.6 % operational mortality
- 160 g -> 4 kg in 9 months
- 95 % superior HOG sold in the market
